Clinical Nurse Specialist

The Clinical Instructor is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating learning and orientation needs for staff (as well as collaborating with other service line clinical instructors for hospital-wide nursing staff needs) utilizing adult education principals and age-specific data, consistent with professional and regulatory mandates. Plans, organizes and implements educational experiences utilizing principles of adult education to meet the identified learning needs of the nurses and to fulfill education requirements established by regulatory agencies. Serves as a consultant for staff in areas of program development, clinical practice, and professional development. Collaborates with nurse managers/directors and staff to assess the learning needs and competencies. Serves as a resource person for Staff Education in regards to contemporary critical care nursing practice. Collaborates with other resource people to develop, evaluate and/or revise process and outcome standards of critical care as appropriate. Enhances professional development through participation in various educational and professional activities. Mentors and teaches staff in teaching, learning practices and skill development of conducting therapeutic groups. Facilitates excellence in nursing practice through research and encouraging staff participation in the same. Ability to teach and mentor nursing staff. Good communication skills and team work. Computer literate. Five years clinical experience in an acute psychiatric setting. Previous experience in staff education or teaching in an academic setting with recent clinical practice preferred. Proficiency in conducting therapeutic groups. Master's degree in Nursing.
